The Lottery Postal Code

The Postcode Lottery has been supporting charities organizations committed to a better world for years, including The Hunger Project.

Since 2011, we have been allowed to call ourselves the Beneficient of the Postcode Lottery. The lottery supports our work every year by €500,000, which has been raised to €600,000 since this year.

The female village council members look beyond the boundaries of their own village, discovering how to set rules of play. From strength and leadership they make a difference to their entire community. They provide access to food, water, education and health. It’s unbelievable what they can achieve if they make their voices heard.

The biggest charity lottery in the Netherlands.

The Lottery Postal Code was established in 1989 to support charities working on a just, healthy and green world. The lottery raises funds for its charities and reveals their work.

At the Postcode Lottery, your zip code is your lottery number. That’s how you win with your neighbors. In the meantime, 3 million participants participate in the lottery. Participants have a monthly chance at hundreds of thousands of prizes and support 147 charities each year with at least 40 percent of the lot price.

Annual support.

The participants of the Postcode Lottery make so much important work possible. Because The Hunger Project and many other organizations receive support every year. With our new fixed contribution of EUR 600,000, we can continue to work towards the end of hunger. And keep investing in people so they can change their situation themselves.

Extra project: ‘Water Winning’.

Thanks to an additional contribution of 1.6 million euros from the Lottery Postal Code, this makes it possible to build 12 sand dams in Burkina Faso, Benin and Malawi.

With the project “Water Winnen…” 12,000 households will be able to have direct access to clean drinking water and water for agriculture. They learn to maintain the dams themselves and to work in vegetable gardens for drought-resistant crops. A stream of development is about to begin.
